How TouchCounter works

TouchCounter turns your touchscreen, trackpad or keyboard into a fast, accurate counter. Everything runs in your browser, so counting starts the moment the page loads.

  1. Tap, click or press Space

Tap the counter area with one or several fingers, click with a mouse, or press Space or Enter. Each contact adds the current step value to your total.

  2. Pick a step and a goal

Choose a step of 1, 5, 10 or 25 and set a target milestone. The progress bar fills as you count, and a confetti burst marks the moment you reach your goal.

  3. Watch your speed live

The dashboard shows clicks per second (CPS), tempo in BPM, rhythm consistency, your fastest 10-tap burst and a 30-second velocity graph.

  4. Save your session

Export your results as a CSV file or copy a short summary to the clipboard. Nothing is uploaded — the data stays on your device.

What you can count with TouchCounter

One tap counter, many jobs. These are the most common ways people use it.

  • People and events

Count visitors at a door, attendees at a venue or hands raised in a room, using large tap targets and step values for groups.

  • Workouts and reps

Track sets, reps, laps and rounds. Audio and vibration feedback confirm every count without looking at the screen.

  • CPS and tapping speed tests

Measure how fast you can click or tap, practise jitter and butterfly clicking, and compare your peak CPS between sessions.

  • Inventory and stock counts

Tally items on a shelf or a production line, then export a CSV file for your records.

  • Prayer, mantra and habit counts

Use it as a digital tasbih or mala counter, or to keep a steady breathing rhythm with soft audio cues.

  • Multi-touch screen testing

See how many simultaneous touch points your phone, tablet or touchscreen supports, with live coordinates for each finger.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about counting taps, measuring speed and keeping your data.

What is a touch counter?

A touch counter is an online tally tool that adds to a running total every time you tap the screen. TouchCounter also counts mouse clicks and key presses, tracks several fingers at once and measures how fast you are tapping.

Is TouchCounter free to use?

Yes. TouchCounter is completely free, needs no account and works in any modern browser on phones, tablets and computers.

Can it count several fingers at the same time?

Yes. Every finger that touches the counter area is registered as its own tap, and the Active Contact Pointers panel shows each finger's position live. The maximum number of simultaneous touches depends on your device's touchscreen.

How is CPS calculated?

CPS (clicks per second) is the number of taps registered during the last second, refreshed five times per second. Peak Speed keeps your highest value, and BPM is your current CPS multiplied by 60.

Can I count with the keyboard?

Yes. Press Space or Enter to add a count and R to reset the session. Keyboard counting is handy on laptops and with foot pedals or clickers that send key presses.

Is my count saved or sent anywhere?

No. Counting happens entirely in your browser and nothing is sent to a server. To keep a record, export the session as a CSV file or copy the summary before you close the tab.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. TouchCounter runs in Safari, Chrome, Firefox and Edge on iOS and Android. Vibration feedback is used only on devices and browsers that support it.
