How the Countdown Touch Counter Works

The Countdown Touch Counter starts at a set number and subtracts 1 with each tap until the display reaches 0. A sound and color change mark the moment the count hits zero.

  1. Set the start number: Enter the number to count down from, such as 50 reps or 108 beads.
  2. Tap to subtract: Each tap lowers the display by the step value.
  3. Watch the remaining value: The screen shows how many taps are left at all times.
  4. Finish at zero: The counter stops at 0 and plays an alert. Extra taps do not push the value below 0.

Countdown Touch Counter Formula

The Countdown Touch Counter remaining value equals the start number minus taps multiplied by the step, with a minimum of 0.

Remaining = max(0, Start − Taps × Step)
Start

Example: A countdown starts at 100 with a step of 1. After 63 taps the display shows 100 − 63 = 37 remaining.

About the Countdown Touch Counter

A Countdown Touch Counter is a reverse tally that counts toward zero instead of up from zero. The display always shows what is left, not what is done.

Counting down suits fixed quotas. A runner with 20 laps left or a seller with 15 tickets left reads the remaining number without subtracting in their head.

Ways to Use the Countdown Touch Counter

There are 5 main uses of the Countdown Touch Counter, including rep quotas and ticket allocations.

  • Rep quotas: Athletes count down 100 squats or 50 push-ups.
  • Ticket allocations: Staff count down the 200 seats left in a hall.
  • Prayer beads: Users count down 33, 99 or 108 recitations.
  • Lap targets: Swimmers count down 40 lengths of a 25 m (82 ft) pool, which equals 1 km (0.62 mi).
  • Sample batches: Lab staff count down the samples left in a 96-well plate.
