How the Sports Score Counter Works

The Sports Score Counter keeps 2 team scores on one screen, with buttons for each scoring value in the chosen sport. Each team's side of the screen is large enough to tap without looking.

  1. Pick the sport: Choose basketball, football, volleyball, tennis or a custom setup.
  2. Enter team names: Label the Home and Away sides.
  3. Tap to score: Tap the scoring value, such as +2 or +3, on the scoring team's side.
  4. Fix mistakes: Use −1 or Undo to correct a wrong entry.

Sports Score Counter Formula

The Sports Score Counter team score equals the sum of each scoring action multiplied by its point value.

Score = Σ (Actions(k) × Points(k)) | Lead = Home − Away
Actions(k)
Times scoring action k happened
Points(k)
Points awarded for action k

Example: A basketball team scores 8 free throws, 21 two-pointers and 9 three-pointers. Score = 8 + 42 + 27 = 77 points.

Scoring rules vary by sport. Rally-point sports such as volleyball add 1 point per rally, while sports such as basketball and rugby award different values for different actions, which the counter handles with value buttons.
