How the Multi-Entrance Counter Works
The Multi-Entrance Counter gives each entrance its own entry and exit tally and combines all entrances into one building total. Each door is counted on a separate device or a separate panel on one screen.
- Add each entrance: Create panels such as North Door, South Door and Car Park.
- Count at each door: Staff tap entries and exits at their own door.
- Combine totals: The tool adds all doors into total entries, total exits and building occupancy.
- Compare doors: See which entrance handles the most traffic.
Multi-Entrance Counter Formula
The Multi-Entrance Counter building occupancy equals the sum of entries at every door minus the sum of exits at every door.
- Entries(d)
- Arrivals at door d
- Exits(d)
- Departures at door d
Example: North: 320 in, 180 out. South: 140 in, 210 out. Car Park: 90 in, 60 out. Occupancy = 550 − 450 = 100. North door share = 320 ÷ 550 = 58.2%.

| Side door | 250 | 300 | −50 | 25% |

About the Multi-Entrance Counter
A Multi-Entrance Counter is an occupancy tool that tracks several doors and combines them into one total. People often enter by one door and leave by another, so only the combined figure gives true occupancy.
A single door's net count can be negative, as the side door example shows. The building total stays accurate once every door feeds into it.
