How the Group and Item Counter Works
The Group and Item Counter tracks items inside the current group and the number of completed groups at the same time. You tap to add items, then tap Close Group to save the group and start the next one at 0.
- Count items: Tap the main surface for each item in the current group.
- Close the group: Tap Close Group when the group is complete. The item count is saved with the group number.
- Start the next group: The item count resets to 0, and the group count rises by 1.
- Review group sizes: See items per group, the total items and the average group size.
Group and Item Counter Formula
The Group and Item Counter total items equals the sum of items in all closed groups plus items in the open group.
- Items(g)
- Items in closed group g
- Open items
- Items in the group being counted
- Groups
- Number of closed groups
Example: Three closed boxes hold 24, 23 and 24 items, and the open box holds 10. Total = 71 + 10 = 81 items. Average per closed box = 71 ÷ 3 = 23.7.

About the Group and Item Counter
A Group and Item Counter is a 2-level counter that records how many items fall in each group and how many groups are complete. The tool keeps group sizes, not just totals.
Group records show variation. A packer filling boxes of 24 sees at once that box 7 holds 22 items, which a single running total does not reveal.
Ways to Use the Group and Item Counter
